Razer Barracuda Pro Review – Missed Opportunity

headset sound
If you’re in the market for a gaming headset, the Razer Barracuda Pro may be a tempting option. This headset has the Razer quality and design, as well as a great set of features that make it a good choice. However, while the Barracuda Pro provides a great gaming experience, there are several reasons why it unfortunately misses the opportunity to become an exceptional product.

The design of the headset would make anyone take notice. It has a red and black color scheme with a large headband for comfort, and large ear cups for perfect noise isolation. The cups and headband are both adjustable, and the headset has a removable microphone. It also has a very sturdy build, that makes it feel comfortable and well-constructed. The headset is compatible with both the PC and Xbox One, and connects with a 3.5mm audio jack, so there’s no need for an adapter.

The sound quality of the Barracuda Pro is good, but it doesn’t have the fidelity needed to deliver an immersive gaming experience. The sound it does produce is good enough for action games, but suffers when listening to music or playing more complex titles. The bass also tends to be a bit weak, and the highs aren’t particularly crisp. Unfortunately, the headset does not have any support for virtual surround sound, which is a feature that other headsets offer.

The microphone of the headset performs reasonably, but the audio recorded doesn’t have the clarity or details that other headsets have. In addition, the headset does not come with any software that allows you to customize the sound or adjust the mic volume. This means that you’ll have to manually adjust the sound in-game, which can be a bit tedious.

All things considered, the Razer Barracuda Pro is a decent gaming headset. The sound, design and build quality are all good, but they all lack something that makes the headset stand out from the competition. If the headset had support for virtual surround sound, or even a mic quality that rivaled other headsets, then it would be an exceptional product. Until then, the Barracuda Pro remains a missed opportunity.
