Metroid Prime
Metroid Prime Remastered is a welcome return to the beloved franchise and a toe-dip into the first-person shooter genre morphed into a classic 2D side-scrolling platformer. The Metroid franchise started almost 35 years ago, and the original Metroid Prime title was released for the GameCube in 2002, receiving immense praise for its engaging narrative and immersive environment. With the new remaster released on the Switch, Nintendo fans can now experience the same adventure in a new, shiny package.

The game retains the same controls, visuals, and soundtrack of the GameCube version, but with improved graphics and updated touch mechanics making the game more accessible to modern players. Additionally, the addition of several new features (such as easy mode for newcomers, a mini map and objective tracker, and the ability to rotate the camera) make the game much more enjoyable for both new and old players alike.

The game’s story follows the familiar heroine and bounty hunter Samus Aran, as she searches for the missing infant Metroid to thwart an alien menace. Playing as Samus, players explore the world of Tallon IV, an alien world filled with mysterious powers and creatures and investigate the Space Pirates’ activities in the region. The game’s atmosphere and music make exploring the area an immersive, pleasurable experience.

The gameplay of the Metroid Prime series has always been its strong suit, and Metroid Prime Remastered continues this legacy with its satisfyingly straightforward action. Players blast their way through various obstacles and enemies and make their way to the next level. Combat is challenging, as enemies move unpredictably and require a lot of attention, but with enough skill and persistence, navigating the game’s dangers is both thrilling and rewarding.

Overall, Metroid Prime Remastered is a great return to a game that has been beloved for many years. It stays true to the formulas that made the original Metroid Prime a widely praised classic, but with a few additions to make the game even more enjoyable. Whether you’re a fan of the Metroid series or a newcomer to the genre, you’ll find something satisfyingly straight-forward and nostalgic in Metroid Prime Remastered.
