It was reported that Samsung was able to increase the yields on the Exynos 2400 chips by tapping into the software code of Qualcomm-designed chips, as Qualcomm has already developed its 5nm process. According to the news, Samsung had access to Qualcomm’s source codes which allowed them to modify and improve their 4nm process chip.

Although Samsung denied the allegations and confirmed that they had only used their own set of software codes, they are still facing some serious backlash on their alleged unethical practices. Not only has this controversy cast a cloud over Samsung’s new chip, it has also brought some much-needed attention to the secretive semiconductor industry.
