Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg to Elon Musk: "Ready today" to fight today, confirm the date

Facebook-parent Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg has reiterated that he is ready to fight Tesla CEO Elon Musk. In a post on Threads, he said that Musk has to get back on the date of their fight and that he had suggested August 26, but the latter has not confirmed.

“I am ready today. I suggested Aug 26 when he first challenged, but he hasn’t confirmed. Not holding my breath,” read his post on Instagram Threads. For those unaware, Instagram Threads is Facebook-owned Instagram’s rival to Twitter.

His latest comments come in response to Elon Musk’s post on X (the erstwhile Twitter) where he wrote that his proposed cage fight with Meta CEO Zuckerberg would be live-streamed on social media platform X and that all proceeds will go to charity for veterans. “Zuck v Musk fight will be live-streamed on 𝕏. All proceeds will go to charity for veterans,” read the post.

Need better platform that X
In response to Musk’s post, Zuckerberg shot back by saying they should “use a more reliable platform that can actually raise money for charity.” (Facebook and Instagram have a built-in fundraising feature while X / Twitter does not.)

In another apparent dig at Musk, Zuckerberg responded to a Threads post asking if the fight being streamed on X / Twitter had been mutually agreed upon. “More like ‘funding secured,” Zuckerberg responded — a reference to Musk’s tweet about taking Tesla private that got him sued by investors for being untrue.

The Meta CEO also said that he loves the sport and “will continue competing with people who train no matter what happens here.”
