Elon Musk's X may be taking away one of your 'biggest right' on the platform

X, the erstwhile, Twitter may be planning to remove a feature that you think is the basic right of every user on the platform, which is ‘Block’. The Block option or feature that allows users to ‘block’ unwanted followers from seeing their activity may soon become a thing of the past.

Tesla Owners Silicon Valley, a profile run by Tesla fans, asked in a Tweet: “Is there ever a reason to block vs mute someone? Give your reasons.” To this, Musk replied, claiming: “Block is going to be deleted as a ‘feature,’ except for DMs.”

Incidentally, other than his post, Musk has not officially confirmed or said that the Block feature will be removed. He has also not talked about when or why the Block feature may go away. A follow-up response simply said that the Block feature “makes no sense.”
Responding to the post, some readers have pointed out that Musk cannot do this as the Block feature is an essential requirement for any social media app on Google Play Store or Apple App Store. “Elon Musk cannot do this. The feature to block someone on the site is REQUIRED as a social media app to be allowed on the App Store and the Google Play store.

Mute vs Block on X
For those unaware, ‘Mute’ feature will still remain. Block feature restricts fellow users from interacting with, viewing and following an account. While ‘Mute’ simply hides your posts from their stream. Users do not get to know that they have been muted. Musk adds that the block feature will remain for direct messages.
