What organizational changes have been made by Intel as a result of Raja Koduri’s departure?

It was announced on the 16th of November that Raja Koduri, the Chief Architect and founder of Arc GPUs, had left Intel after spending 3 years at the company. This was a surprising move from Koduri who has seen success with the development of Intel’s Xe line of graphics cards.

Now that Koduri has left Intel, Stuart Pann, the ex-VP of Real-Time Strategy, will be stepping in to his place as the IFS leader. He will be responsible for leading the Integrated Device Solutions (IDS) engineering, memory and Intel Optane groups, as well as the 3D XPoint technology engineering organization.

Pann began his career at Intel in 2011 and has played a key role in Intel’s Graphics and Visual Platforms group. He has experience in the industry and is highly respected within Intel, which gives him the right qualifications to take over Koduri’s post.

With the departure of Koduri, Intel has lost one of its most senior experts in graphics and visual computing, which could put the development of Xe GPUs in the future in jeopardy. Pann will be under immense pressure to push the development of this line of graphics cards, and it’s unclear at this point if he will be able to keep up the same level of work that Koduri was able to do.

At the same time, Pann is also facing the challenge of ramping up Intel’s memory products, especially for data-intensive workloads. With Pann at the helm, Intel could be looking to make progress in developing more advanced memory technologies such as 3D XPoint.

Koduri’s departure from Intel is a major setback for the company, but with Pann at the helm, Intel could still be in a position to make progress on the development of its Xe graphics cards, as well as memory technologies. Time will tell if Pann is able to fill Koduri’s shoes and drive Intel’s development in these areas.
