The benchmark tally of Intel’s upcoming Core i9-13900T processor is here, and it looks like Intel is delivering impressive levels of performance at a substantially lower wattage than its less powerful processor, the Core i9-12900K.

The Core i9-13900T is a 35 watt processor, whereas the Core i9-12900K is a 125 watt processor. Despite the dramatic difference in power consumption, benchmarks show that it still packs a punch.

In a series of Geekbench 5 and Cinebench benchmarks, the Core i9-13900T was able to outperform the Core i9-12900K in terms of single-core performance by 3.2%. It also delivered almost identical performance to the more powerful processor in terms of multi-core performance.

This power efficiency marks the Core i9-13900T as not just a capable processor, but a versatile one. Its 35 watt TDP allows it to be used in thin and light laptops and other mobile form-factors, while still offering gaming and other performance-focused capabilities.

What’s more, these benchmarks also show that the Core i9-13900T is not just faster than the Core i9-12900K at a lower wattage, but it is also more energy efficient. When running at the same speed and wattage as the Core i9-12900K, the Core i9-13900T is able to deliver better scores in the same tests.

The Core i9-13900T is set to be released in the second quarter of the year, so expect to hear much more about this processor as it becomes available. It looks like Intel has offered a tantalizing tradeoff between performance and power consumption, and that’s sure to get enthusiasts and buyers alike excited for its release.
